The seniors and reserves both recorded vital wins at home in the league against Aodh Ruadh on Saturday evening.NAOMH COLMCILLE GAA

The seniors got back to winning ways against Aodh Ruadh, gaining some revenge for the narrow loss in Ballyshannon earlier in the year. The final score was Naomh Colmcille 1-14 1-6 Aodh Ruadh. Next up is a trip to Ballintra to take on Naomh Brid on Saturday evening (22nd).

The reserves turned in a great performance from start to finish to defeat Aodh Ruah on Saturday. The home side were on top from the start and had built up a lead of 1-11 to 0-1 at half time, the goal coming courtesy of a shot that looped in over the keeper from a very tight angle from David O’Brien. Further second half goals from Conor Grant, Andrew Clarke and Michael Friel contributed to a final scoreline of Naomh Colmcille 4-16 0-7 Aodh Ruadh. An away fixture at Naomh Brid is up next for the reserves next Saturday.

Well done to the u8s who hosted their Northern board blitz on Saturday; Buncrana and MacCumhaills were the visitors to a wet Pairc Colmcille. There was a great turn out by the team and parents in difficult weather conditions; the team showed great team spirit in their games with young players showing fantastic leadership. Thanks to all the helpers, referees, parents and to Buncrana and MacCumhaills for coming. New players (boys and girls) are most welcome to come and have fun.

The u12s visited MacCumhaills on Monday evening. The green team were beaten in their match, while the yellow team were narrowly beaten in the other match. The next fixture for both teams is at Naomh Padraig Lifford on Monday (17th) at 7:00 pm.

A Feile meeting for both senior and minor boards is on Tuesday (18th) at 8:30 pm.

The u14s are scheduled to meet Termon in the championship in Newtown on Wednesday (deferred from last week); see website and Facebook for more details and updates.

U10s have a blitz this Saturday (22nd) – more details during the week by text and on Facebook/website.

Preparations are well underway on and off the pitch for Naomh Colmcille’s participation in Division 3 of the upcoming Feile Peil na nOg competition. Naomh Colmcille are hosting Monaghan Harps from Monaghan. The team take on Monaghan Harps at Pairc Colmcille on Friday 28th June at 1:30 pm, and then travel to Mountcharles on Saturday morning (29th June) to take on St. Brigids (Roscommon) and St. Nauls. In addition one of the players will compete in a skills test at St. Nauls. The Division 3 semi-finals take place in Craigbane (Derry) on Saturday afternoon, with the final taking place in Owenbeg (Derry) on Sunday (30th June) at 12:00 noon. All parents are encouraged to get involved as much as possible to make this a memorable occasion for everyone asociated with the team and club. The club are running a ‘Guess the score’ competition for the Donegal v Down match as a fundraiser for the team – each line costs €2 with €100 on offer to the winner. A clean-up of the grounds and clubhouse is scheduled for Thursday evening (20th June) from 6:00 pm – all help appreciated.

The Naomh Colmcille Cul Camp is due to take place on 8-12 July.
