BURTONPORT BY MAUREEN BONNERThe Keadue Gathering – “GATHERING FOR KEADUE”

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY – SATURDAY 24th AUGUST 2013

With local school finances being stretched to the limit due to ongoing government cut backs it is becoming more and more important for local communities to come together to help support their local schools. The parents of children attending Scoil An Angil Choimheádaí, Keadue, have decided to hold a fun day on SATURDAY 24th AUGUST 2013 to get the finances for the coming school year off to a good start and are calling on wider community members to lend their support .

Come along to the welcome centre, Burtonport on Thursday 27th June 2013 @ 7.45 to make suggestions and find out more about our plans for the day. Your support is very much appreciated.

Siuloid An Sean Iarnrod/The Old Railway Walk

Well done to everyone who helped out with the scrap metal day – with a particular THANK YOU to Brian Annie Anne, Damien Murray, Peter Boyle, David Alcorn, Eoin Coyle and all the additional crew members. All efforts on the day yielded a tidy profit of €600. Hard work on the day from everyone involved and a huge THANK YOU from all of us who use this fantastic amenity.

Thank you to everyone who took part on the festival fundraiser walk on 2nd June. A tidy profit of €301.00 was raised on the day – all of which will go towards the 2013 Burtonport festival. Thank you Gerard Dickey for your support.

Monday 24th June will see some restoration work begin on the old railway walk which will last approximately two weeks . The committee are urging persons using the walk are asked to take additional care whilst using the walk over this period and to keep large group walks to a minimum over this period.
