Labour Party area representative and vice-chair Donegal VEC , Peter Cutliffe has welcomed the announcement there will be an additional 90 third level places for unemployed people in Donegal.LYIT

“These courses in LYIT were selected as they provide relevant qualifications in growth areas of the economy, such as IT and software security.

“The Springboard programme is aimed particularly at those who may need to change career path to get back into the workforce. The programmes in Letterkenny will range from Level 6 to Level 9 and take up to 12 months to complete.”

He said for too long the state churned out the same old training programmes regardless of the needs of the individuals or of the demands of business and industry.

“We have to be much smarter than that now and equip people with the qualifications necessary for todays workplace.”

“Springboard was a huge success last year with over 2,000 people employed on completion of their courses. I’m confident that those availing of the new places will be every bit as successful. We have turned the tide in regards to unemployment. It is vital that we continue that work and improve upon it.”

Applications & full details of courses can be found on www.springboardcourses.ie
