ONE DEAD AND TWO INJURED AFTER OVERNIGHT CRASH

BREAKING NEWS: A MAN has been killed and another two people injured following a road crash on the outskirts of Ballybofey.Garda-accident

The accident happened between 3.30am and 3.45am on the Glenfin Road.

Two cars were involved in the accident, say Gardai. The victim was from the Raphoe area.

The road has been closed and will remain closed for the rest of the day.

A full Garda forensic investigation has been launched into the crash.

A short time ago a Garda spokesman gave more details of the incident.

He said: “We are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred in Ballybofey on the 24th June 2013.

“The collision involving two cars on the Ballybofey to Glenfin Rd(on the outskirts of Ballybofey town) occurred between 3.30am and 3.45am on the 24th June 2013.

“There was one female driver(early 40’s) in one car and four(one female and three male 20’s to 40’s) in the second car.

“They were all taken to Letterkenny General Hospital where one of the males(20’s) was later pronounced dead. The other people involved in the collision, their injuries are described as non life threatening.

“The road is closed for a Forensic collision examination and diversions are in place.

“Witnesses to the collision or anyone who was on the Ballybofey to Glenfin Rd between 3.20am and 3.45am on the 24th are asked to contact Ballybofey on 074 9137740, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
