Sinn Fein Cllr Cora Harvey has called on the Council to remind land owners to get on top of hedge cutting.Cora Harvey

The recent spell of good weather followed by rain has seen an explosion in growth.

Cllr Harvey, the chair of the roads committee, said there are some areas which are causing serious obstruction across the county.

“There are various locations around the Stranorlar Electoral Area where hedgegrowth is particularly dense and is causing obstruction and impairing vision for motorists.

“It is the land owners responsibility to ensure that hedge growth is not leaning on to the public roads, were it is council or communal lands I call on the Council to be equally as vigilant.

“I would urge the public to also report any areas were they feel is dangerous due to excessive growth to the Council so as the Council can contact the land owner to get the problem rectified as soon as possible.

“I also commend local land owners who have already cut hedges and green growth in areas were it was causing a vision problem for motorists and pedestrians.”
