Donegal County Council has been forced to erect signs in the vicinity of Carrickfin’s Southern end.

The beach remains open for all visitors to enjoy, according to a spokesman for Donegal County Council.

However with a fine spell of weather forecast, there are fears that many more people will use the area.

The spokesman said “A sign has recently been erected notifying visitors that sand may be soft in the vicinity of the stream on Carrickfin’s Southern end.

“This is an irregular occurrence, depending on rainfall, stream depth, state of tide and other factors influencing.

“As a precaution, the bi-lingual sign was erected in the interests of water safety.”
