HARPS MAKE POOR START TO SECOND HALF OF SEASON

Finn Harps made the worst possible start to the second half of the season after losing 3-0 to Waterford Utd tonight.

McHugh should have scored for Harps

McHugh should have scored for Harps

This is Harps fourth defeat on the bounce and a solid run of results is needed to save the Donegal team’s season.

After a terrific early first third of the season, Peter Hutton’s side have found themselves falling apart.

Harps can count themselves at least unlucky to get on the scoreboard tonight.

Sean McCarron, Kevin McHugh and Jonny Bonnar all should have scored before Waterford broke the deadlock in the 31st minute.

But goals from Vinnie Sullivan and Paul Quilty before half-time had Harps on the backfoot for the rest of the game.

Kevin McHugh’s shot came off the Waterford post in the 62nd minute.

But luck wasn’t on Harps side as Waterford went straight up the pitch with Quilty finding the net again.

McHugh went close again with a header in the 71st minute but Waterford closed up shop.

Hutton has boasted that he has a large squad to call on if needed.

That need may well be justified right now.
