A DERRY man is in Garda custody and two female friends held north of the Border after a hijacking in Derry on Friday night.
A woman was forced from her car at knifepoint around 10.15pm.
The silver Ford Fiesta later crashed in County Donegal.
Two female passengers were taken to Altnagelvin for treatment and were arrested on their discharge in the early hours of this morning. They have been charged with carjacking offences and will appear in court in Derry on Monday.
The car’s driver was arrested by Gardai and is in custody in Letterkenny where he is being questioned today.
The incident comes as Gardai step up patrols along the Border following a spate of break-ins and robberies in Lifford, Raphoe and Newtowncunningham.
It’s understood Gardai were on the scene of last night’s incident within minutes.
