Lagan reached the quarter finals of the girls u/16 national cup with a comprehensive victory over Mayo side Manulla Fc. Lagan started brightly with Sinead Dunne racing clear in the opening minutes but Simona Fernandes saved bravely at her feet. Their early pressure paid off when on fifteen minutes, Zoe Mc Glynn raced down the wing before crossing for Amy Boyd, who finished well.socce§§r-ball

Lagan dominated most of the half with Manulla confined to a couple of efforts from Hannah Flatley and Jessica Nolan. Lagan went close on thirty five minutes when Sinead Dunne again broke clear but her effort came back off the post, with Simona Fernandes just preventing it crossing the line.

Right on half time Manulla almost grabbed an equaliser but Michaella Dunleavy was quick off her line to block Hannah Flatley as she bore down on goal. The contest was effectively ended when Lagan grabbed two quickfire goals on fifty and fifty two minutes. Firstly Cianan Brogan headed on to Sinead Dunne who finished calmly and then Orla Friel raced clear on the right before finishing well. Lagan created more chances but Simona Fernandes pulled off some great saves in the Manulla goal and Jessica Nolan got in some good tackles. Lagan pressure paid off right at the end when Caoimhe Walsh raced on to a long through balland finished expertly.
