SUNK! The jeep was filling with water

THE tide was coming in thick and fast.

And with every second that passed, more water poured into an expensive jeep as it remained sunk in the sands at Ballyheirnan Beach, Fanad.

The owner had reversed his vehicle into the water, with a Jetski on the trailer.

But the unforgiving sands gave way – and the owner began to get that sinking feeling.

To the rescue came the kind-hearted owner of a transit van who reversed into position – and promptly became stuck too.

Tractors were sent for and calls were made.

However local people arrived and managed to attach a rope to the jeep and pull it ashore, water flowing back out of the vehicle from the rear doors.

Job done, attention turned to the van.

And ironically the jeep came to the rescue, tying a rope to the van and towing it towards drier, safer sands.

Just another day at the beach!
