DEPUTY Pádraig Mac Lochlainn will join an all party delegation from the North West cross border region to meet the Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, tomorrow in Dublin, on the future funding of the A5 Donegal to Dublin dual carriageway project.
The meeting follows a recent similar meeting with Martin McGuinness, Deputy First Minister in the Six Counties.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Deputy Mac Lochlainn said It is vital that all public representatives in this region fight as one team for this vital project.
“This is a battle that we just can not lose. It is about equality of opportunity for the people we all represent.
“We left the meeting with Martin McGuinness reassured on the ongoing full commitment of the Northern Executive to progress the A5 works despite the set back for now in the Belfast High Court.”
The Sinn Fein TD said we need the same reassurance from An Taoiseach on his Government’s share of the funding responsibilities moving forward.
“I am hopeful of a positive outcome to this meeting.
“In a sense the time delays caused by the High Court decision can fit more comfortably with the Government’s earlier decision to defer funding to the project, disappointing as that was at the time”
