Exclusive: Gardai launched a manhunt after a suspect fled from the scene of a drugs factory in Ballyshannon last night.cannabis

It is understood that detectives had the area under surveillance for some time following an undercover operation.

When they pounced on the premises at Higginstown, they found almost €300,000 worth of cannabis plants.

Up to 350 plants as well as various equipment used to grow the cannabis was also seized.

However a man at the scene managed to flee on foot.

A massive Garda manhunt was launched and the coastguard helicopter was also summoned to join in the search for the suspect.

The PSNI in Fermanagh were also alerted.

The area has been preserved and Garda forensics are due at the scene to process it.

No arrests were made but Gardai have appealed for information in helping to find the suspect.
