Barry’s body was found yesterday, say police

BREAKING NEWS: The body of a young man found in Scotland has been confirmed as that of missing County Donegal man Barry Doherty.

Mr Doherty, who was 25 and from Carndonagh had been missing since he left his home in Paisley on July 15.

His father had last seen him alive that Monday evening.

A body was found in the water at Thornley Dam in Paisley yesterday afternoon.

Renfrewshire Police have this evening said that the body has been identified as that of Barry.

Mr Doherty had moved to the town of Paisley from Inishowen in 2011.

He was a popular figure in both Carndonagh and in his adopted Scottish home.

The news has left his large circle of family and friends devastated.

His sister Cathie had launched an extraordinary social media awareness campaign in the days after Barry went missing.

She had said she had feared the worst when news of the finding of a body emerged late on Wednesday.

Barry was a former pupil of Carndonagh Community School. It was his 25th birthday last Thursday.
