Gardai are stopping people entering the A@E as a precaution.

In response to the flooding incident in Letterkenny General Hospital, the Department of Psychiatry based on the LGH campus will be closed from 10.30pm tonight for all admissions, voluntary and involuntary. All admissions, voluntary and involuntary, should be referred to Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services, Ballytivnan, Co. Sligo; phone number 071 – 91 42111; Fax number 071 – 91 41825.

All service users and their families have been informed of the flooding incident. Some service users have been transferred to the community residential units at Rowenfield House, Donegal Town; phone 074 – 97 21910. Other service users have been transferred to Cleary House, Letterkenny; phone 074 91 21770. All families have been informed of the transfer and, where possible, some service users have gone on leave with their families overnight with the full support of local services in the event of any emergency. The remaining service users will remain in the Department of Psychiatry.

Donegal Mental Health Services regrets any inconvenience caused to service users and their families, and any queries or concerns should be referred to the Donegal Mental Health Services local dedicated number at 087 – 6182621
