An investigation is already underway into how this disaster happened.
Viewing the footage, it’s so sad to see such a fine facility staffed by such brilliant people under so much water.
Volunteers have worked throughout the day with fire and army personnel and gardai.
Anyone who can help in any way is asked to help.
Hero nurses and other staff on their weekend off have been arriving all day at the hospital to help.
The cost of repairing and replacing lost equipment is already estimated at more than €1M.
But for now it’s time to honour the volunteers and heroes who have spent almost 24 hours helping to repair the damage to OUR hospital.
