THE Friends of Letterkenny Hospital have said that equipment bought during fundraising may have been lost in last week’s flood – but have called for a end to the ‘blame game’ over who was responsible for the disaster.

Peter Cutliffe, vice chair of the group, said: “Whilst we are all very shocked and disappointed at the events of the last few days , I believe that we need to show our support for the management & staff at the hospital in these very difficult days and weeks ahead.

“It is particularly disappointing for the Friends of the Hospital who have been purchasing equipment for the hospital over the past 21 years to see some of this expensive equipment probably damaged beyond repair.

“I believe that, as a voluntary support organisation to the Hospital, we the ‘Friends’ now need to renew our efforts county-wide in order to make a positive contribution to the restoration & repair of Letterkenny Hospital.”
