BREAKING NEWS: GLENCAR AREA OF LETTERKENNY BADLY FLOODED AGAIN

floodsTHE GLENCAR area of Letterkenny is under water again as today’s torrential downpours continue.

It came within minutes of a 3.30pm alert from forecasters with Met Eireann extending its flash flood warning overnight tonight.

“It’s just awful again,” said one resident. “It’s dangerous and people should stay off the road until the water subsides.”

The roads in the area have been turned into rivers as downpours affect the Letterkenny area and other parts of north Donegal.

AA Roadwatch has warned motorists to take extra care in and around the Letterkenny, Milford, Fanad, Buncrana and Lifford areas this evening.

The latest flood warnings came six days after flash floods caused millions of euro worth of damage to Letterkenny General Hospital.

Today Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams said it would take a year to put the hospital back to where it was before the floods.
