masked gangBREAKING NEWS: A MAN in his 20s is being treated in hospital for a brain injury, fractures and bruises in a sickening paramilitary-style attack in north Donegal.

Four masked men broke into a house near Ray, outside Rathmullan, last night and carried out the vicious assault.

The victim suffered broken ankles and extensive cuts and bruises in the relentless attack.

Gardai in Milford have launched an investigation into the incident in which the man was also threatened with a shotgun.

It’s understood the victim was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry to be treated for his injuries.

He is still being treated in hospital where his condition is described as stable.

Today local people expressed horror and shock at the incident.

“This is the sort of thing you hear about in Belfast or somewhere else, not here in a quiet community,” said one local mother today.

“People around here are looking forward to the bank holiday weekend and the Rathmullan festival and this sort of thing is just horrendous.”
