The Sligo Coast Guard R118 chopper was despatched to the casualty during the weekend incident around 11pm on Saturday night.

However the helicopter was then diverted to the island of Inishturk where a man had suffered a heart attack.

The Portsalon casualty was subsequently transferred to Altnagelvin by road.

The R118 helicopter was later called back to north Donegal at 2.10am on Sunday to pick up a stroke victim.
