Lagan Harps reached the Ulster Junior cup final when they recovered from conceding an early goal to beat Bonagee Utd at Orchard Park.

Bonagee took the lead on six minutes when Anna Doherty reacted quickly when Niamh Mailey spilled a long through ball. She rounded the keeper and rolled the ball in to the empty net.

Lagan equalised on twenty two minutes when Nikita Burke converted a penalty after she was fouled. Lagan then too the lead on twenty five minutes when Lauren Harper sent Amber Barrett through and she finished well.

Lagan put on the pressure coming towards halftime but Denise Mc Elhinney pulled off a superb save from a Lauren Harper header. Lagan were awarded a second penalty early in the second half but Denise Mc Elhinney did well to save Nikita Burke’s effort.

Bonagee threatened a couple of times with Roisin Mc Clafferty and Anna Doherty doing well in midfield. Lagan got their third when Denise Mc Elhinney pulled off a good save from Amber Barrett but Nikita Burke bundled the rebound over the line.

This more or less killed off the game and Sinead Dunne added a fourth for Lagan when she was put through by Nikita Burke.

For Lagan Bernie Cunningham did well in defence with Nikita Burke, Amber Barrett and Lauren Harper (until injured) always a threat. For Bonagee Denise Mc Elhinney was excellent in goal with Amy Thompson, Roisin Mc Cafferty and Anna Doherty also doing well.

Our men’s team started their season with a 1-0 loss to Drumoghill FC in the Brian Mc Cormick cup. A young and much changed side put in a good performance in a hard fought encounter. On Sunday they are home to Ballybofey Utd at 2.00pm in the same cup.

In our weekly lotto the numbers drawn were 2,6,10 and 22. Stanley Dill had three numbers and won E50 again this week. Next weeks jackpot is E4475.00.
