john brownA man has been arrested in Co Donegal for alleged arson at a property belonging to Derry businessman John Brown, brother of singer Dana.

Mr Brown bought the property in Newtowncunningham with a view to developing it.

The property, which is in the heart of the village, was targeted two years ago.

The property had been in a state of disrepair when it was targeted.

A man was arrested in recent days and quizzed by Gardai, we have learned.

He was released without charge and a file on the matter is to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Mr Brown is a regular visitor to Donegal and owns a home in Urris.

He owned a number of other properties in Newtown and in Fahan over the years.

He is currently living in Windsor in England where he is on bail awaiting trial on indecent assault charges.
