Donegal middleweight Joseph Duffy sets off into the unknown this weekend as he heads to Southern Germany to take on Romanian opponent Ionut Trandafir Ilie. Joseph Duffy

Duffy has enjoyed a seamless transition from MMA to professional boxing and boasts a 100% record after winning all of his five bouts.

Duffy boxes under the tutelage of John Tandy and Adam Brearley and has gained experience from sparring with the likes of George Groves and James Degale.

Duffy was born in Donegal but spent most of his childhood in Wales but regards himself as Irish and is very proud of his Donegal roots, so much so that he has a tattoo of Dun Na nGall on his back and a Donegal crest on his boxing shorts.

Duffy’s career is closely followed by those who know him well in the Rosses area and a victory this weekend in the hostile environment of Ravensburg Germany will reiterate to everyone that he has a bright future in the world of professional boxing.

Duffy attracts large support from the Irish community in London and it is expected that fans from Wales, Donegal and London will travel to Germany to cheer on the mauler from Meenbannad.

Good luck Joe.
