A Donegal woman has provided a solution for singletons that feel uncomfortable trying to meet someone in the pub or nightclub circuit by creating a fantastic speed dating night that will be held on a monthly basis in Letterkenny. Love Pic

Caroline Whoriskey wants to help people find love and believes her new twist on an established idea could be the way forward for many people in Donegal.

Caroline explained to Donegal Daily how she got the idea,

“As a single woman a woman of a certain age, the thought of going out to pubs and clubs to meet someone fills me with dread, am not the most confident of people and being in those places fearing ‘the knock back’ scared me big time.

“But I want to meet someone for fun, to share things with, a companion type thing, so what’s a girl to do?

“Well I know I am not the only one like this, so it got me thinking, what if someone created an event that narrowed down my choices to more like minded men, wouldn’t I have a better chance ?

“So, that is why I have set up datenightforyou@gmail.com, we aim to create Speed Dating Events in Letterkenny (and other towns) that will pair people with the same interests.

“For example if you are into keeping fit or sport that sort of thing, there will be a Speed Dating Night to incorporate that, into films, music, books, even cooking and wine tasting, there is an event to suit you.

“We want you to come out for a night with us, have the craic, and hopefully get that spark going with the guy/girl who made an impression on you.

“There is a fee of €15 to cover costs of the event, there will be a candle lit wine reception and some stunning cupcakes made especially by a fabulous local baker and we will have a little fun and games at the interval time to get everyone more relaxed.

“Women sit at the tables and the guys move from table to table (scientific research say it is better this way), everyone will have a scorecard and everyone can only have 4 minutes to speak before a bell signals your move to next table.

“At the end of the night we calculate your scores and see if we have any matches, and if so, we send you their contact details so that you then can make a start on that possible love match.

“It’s not scary really and it will be a whole load of fun, so what is keeping you? contact us now, so that we can get this party up and running!

The first one of these fantastic new nights kick off on the 2nd of October in the Glencar Inn.

It promises to be a wonderful nights entertainment and even if you don’t find love straight away your sure to have a fantastic evening.

So if your single and looking for love keep calm and try speed dating.

Put it in your diary now – October 2nd at the Glencar Inn – and that dream relationship could be just one table away!
