A mother is boycotting her local HSE dentist because the toilets are so dirty.
The woman said she cannot return to the dentist service at St.Conal’s in Letterkenny after a horrific experience with her two children.
The woman said she found black mold, damp, dirt and paper peeling from the walls of the toilet on a recent visit.
And she has vowed not to return unless the place is cleaned up.
She revealed “When we went in I was horrified at the state of it (the toilet). I refused to allow my child to use it as it was so dirty and in such a state of repair.
“My three year old walked and said ‘eew … its dirty mummy’. The black mold, damp walls with wallpaper peeling, rust all over and general dirtiness of this bathroom was shocking.
“I have seen porta-pottys cleaner and in better condition. It is obvious the general lack of money, time or effort that is put into St. Conals. It is clear to see just walking down the halls but the toilets to be in such horrible condition is disgusting,” she said.
The woman, who asked not to be named, sent Donegal Daily a series of pictures she took of the condition of the toilets.
And the woman added “Some effort into giving the bathrooms a good clean and scrub could go along way.
“It is absolutely disgusting and I for one will be refusing to take my children to this hospital again.”
As well as dental services, St Conal’s also offer services for children’s psychology, childrens’ eye clinics and childrens’ behavioural clinic.
A spokesperson for HSE West viewed some of the pictures of the St.Conal’s toilets and explained that a significant structural works programme is underway at St.Conal’s.
“This is currently focusing on protecting the structure from damp etc.
“When this work is competed we will be moving to improve the toilet facilities.
“In the meantime the toilets are cleaned regularly and the HSE will review these schedules again in light of this individual complaint.
“The HSE encourages members of the public to comment on our services,” said the spokesperson.
She also referred the woman to the HSE website and invited her to make a comment or complaint on the matter.
