Brave Majella O’Donnell has forced the Irish Cancer Society’s website to crash after her brave appearance on last night’s Late Late Show.

Majella was diagnosed with cancer recently and started chemotherapy yesterday.

Last night she had her hair shaved live on air with host Ryan Tubridy.

Majella said the idea for the shave was not about her but was merely to raise much-needed funding for the Irish Cancer Society.

And people across Ireland were so moved by Majella’s genuine gesture that they flooded the ICS’s website and donation line with cash.

Majella fought back tears as her friend and hairdresser John from Tipperary shaved off Majella’s hair.

And she said she felt “fab’ after getting her new look.

The Late Late Show audience gave Majella an amazing responce with a huge standing ovation.

Host Ryan Tubridy said he had never experienced anything like the goodwill shown towards Majella.

Just moments after Majella carried out her shave, the organisation’s website crashed because of the huge volume of donations.

The ICS asked people to stick with them and to donate when the website came back online.

Majella revealed how she told husband Daniel to carry on with a tour of North America as she went for her treatment.

“He wanted to cancel the tour but what could he do other than to just look at me in the room,” she laughed.

Majella said she would not look at herself after her hair was shaved off in case she looked ugly.

The further couldn’t have been from the truth as Majella carried out was could only be described as a beautiful and selfless act.

People can donate from today to Majella’s Pink Appeal for the Irish Cancer Society, text ‘Pink’ to 50300 to donate €4 or CallSave 1850 60 60 60 to make a donation.
