Majella O’Donnell’s brave headshave on Friday’s Late Late Show could end up raising more than €500,000 for charity.Brave Majella O'Donnell

The businesswoman and wife of singer Daniel O’Donnell has already passed the €400,000 mark for the Irish Cancer Society.

And with huge publicity surrounding her efforts, that figure is now likely to top the half a million euro figure.

Majella was overcome as she learned of the amazing figure earlier today.

“No, No, No. Oh my God! Oh my God!” she said as Ryan Tubridy revealed the figure on RTE radio this morning.

Majella, who is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer, had her head shaved on the Late Late Show in an emotional charity drive for the Irish Cancer Society.

The text lines, phone lines and website of the Irish Cancer Society all crashed under the subsequent traffic as people tried to donate money.

“Mother of God Almighty and Heaven above, thank you everybody so so much,” she said this morning.

“It’s incredible. Absolutely incredible. I can’t even put into words – it’s amazing.”

Majella said she thought her efforts would raise €10,000 and perhaps even €50,000.

But she revealed that her husband Daniel told her to aim high and try and raise as much money for cancer research as possible.

“He told me to reach for the stars and I may hit the moon. I can believe what has happened. It’s just incredible,” she said.
