Tragic Conor Boyle’s mum has paid a loving tribute to her courageous son.
Conor will be retweeting in heaven says his mum.
Heartbroken Sheila Boyle posted a message on Facebook in which she thanked everyone for supporting her son and family over the past two weeks.
Sheila said the 18 year old Loughanure teenager will be keeping in touch with everyone he has left behind in his own unique way.
“He will be sitting in heaven this evening looking down to see how many likes he got on Facebook and how many re-tweets he got on Twitter,” she said.
Sheila and husband Hugh have stayed beside Conor’s bedside in hospital since a car crash plunged him into a coma two weeks ago in London.
Sheila said “Sadly this morning our precious son Conor Boyle lost the biggest battle of his life . From the bottom of our hearts we would like to thank everybody for their support and prayers over the last two weeks. We would also like to thank our family and friends who were with us at Addenbrokes hospital in Cambridge.”
The mum of six boys paid a special thanks to Megan Greene from Maghery who is a staff nurse at the hospital saying Megan was their rock throughout these dark days.
She said the family are astonished and overwhelmed the way the local community, county and beyond has pulled together to offer their support and well wishes through social media, phone calls and texts.
Sheila said Conor excelled in every sport he participated in, mainly boxing , GAA and soccer.
“He never bothered with basketball as he wasn’t the biggest man in the world but he had the biggest heart.”
His loving mum said Conor was “caring, full of life, confident and funny.”
And she recalled “In recent weeks he even had a 64 year old work colleague doing press-up for his own entertainment , which he recorded and posted on his Facebook page.
“If you were lucky enough to have met Conor you would know why he was so well liked and left a lasting impression on everybody, young or old he would find something in common.”
She admitted that they are now broken hearted and life will never be the same without their beloved son.
“Conor’s favourite saying was “some man me” and that you were. From the proudest parents in the world. Hugh and Sheila.”
