Patrick McGowanVETERAN Fianna Fail councillor Patrick McGowan has welcomed the Seanad referendum result – saying Labour, Fine Gael and Sinn Fein got their just desserts.

“The €20M that this Referendum cost on the Senate vote should be paid by all three parties,” said Cllr McGowan.

“Enda held this Referendum to distract criticism of his Government policy aided and abetted by Sinn Fein.

“The Recent bills introducing abortion into Ireland Labour, Fine Gael and Sinn Fein and other legislation rushed through the Dáil has caused a lot of people to think about Democracy and how much this present Dáil was serving the Irish people.

“A lot of promises were made just before the 2011 elections such as reform on the political systems, but all we we’re going to get was cuts for ordinary people and jobs for the boys as political advisers being paid over €150’000 plus expenses and more on the way to replace the Senators when they were got rid of.

“The Irish people have now spoken and have demanded real change.”
