Donegal’s jobless figures are down by almost 3% in some areas.

Senator Jimmy Harte has welcomed the reduction in live register figures with only Dungloe bucking the trend with an increase of 4.

The figures were released by the CSO this week and show that there is almost a 3% decrease locally in Donegal.

“While the overall figure is still too high, it is clear the number of people signing on locally is in gradual decline and this is a move in the right direction.

“This is good news for people locally here in Donegal,” said Senator Harte.

However with so many people leaving the county, most of the decline is probably down to emigration.
