donegal flagDonegal has been voted one of the best places to live in Ireland.

The county earned a joint first place ranking with Co. Louth in a list compiled by Likeplace.ie.

Donegal scored a 4/5 ranking for Quality of Life, earning the title of #2 Most Liked County in Ireland.

Rating website Likeplace.ie gathered fewer than 10,000 ratings for more than 2,500 places in Ireland.  Eight towns in Donegal were placed on the Best Places in Ireland list.

Ardara earned a 18th place slot with a Quality of Life rating of 4.2/5. Other placed Donegal towns are Buncrana (#32), Gweedore (#34), Moville (#39), Letterkenny (#75), Glenties (#76), Donegal Town (#88) and Raphoe (#131).

Visitors and residents of the county can also rate towns.

Ardara received glowing reviews. One commenter said, “Wished I could live in Ardara, great place and people.”

Another visitor’s comment reads: “My first visit to this lovely village this summer. Beautiful beaches and mountains nearby. Friendly people, lots to see and do. I shall come back again.”

Thousands of people voted for Donegal on a list of questions including cost of living, local services, schools, environment, law and order and sense of community.
