STUDENTS CERTAINLY NOT ‘DRAGON’ THEIR HEELS IN RAPHOE!

dragon

There are many myths and tales in the history of Raphoe, but today a new tale was added when a Dragon was spotted making its way through the historical town.

But this was no ordinary dragon; this was a Deele College Dragon!

Students from the local secondary school have been working for the past number of weeks in the school’s art department under the guidance of Art teacher Patrice Gallagher and today they unveiled the fruits of their labour.

A 10 foot red dragon was launched from the school and made its way to the local primary schools, where the pupils took time out from their studies to enjoy the resplendent colours of this magnificent creature.

The dragon was ably accompanied by Drummers and Pipers from the Royal and Prior Raphoe and Raphoe central for who added a wonderful musical element to the parade.

This is a cross community project, which is all part of ETB week, which is designed to celebrate the changeover from Donegal VEC to the Donegal Training and Education Board (ETB)

Over fifty students from Deele College were involved, where they showed their wonderful creative talents and the dragon was enjoyed by hundreds of Primary school children in the area.

So if you’re driving through the famous town today, your mind is not playing tricks on you, there actually is a dragon passing by!
