Ballybofey Utd have played at Finn View Park, Chestnut Road since 1971.

But the real owners of the grounds, Butt Hall Trust, want to sell the land to the supermarket giant, which intends to construct a new store on the site.

Planning permission for the new development has been granted by Donegal County Council.

The trust claims it asked the club to vacate the site in April but says it has failed to do so and claims the club is now trespassing.

In the High Court, the trust, whose mission is to provide entertainment and education to the people of the town, is seeking an injunction forcing the club to vacate the lands.

Mr Justice Paul Gilligan is expected to give his decision next week.
