DOCTORS TO REVIEW SENATOR HARTE’S CONDITION TODAY

DOCTORS will review Senator Jimmy Harte’s condition in hospital today, 48 hours after he fell and suffered head injuries close to his Dublin apartment.

The father-of-four is still in a serious condition at the Beaumont Hospital in the capital.

Gardaí believe he fell after suffering some sort of blackout, linked to a recent heart condition.

He was found off Cork Street by a passerby at 3am on Saturday, just hours after he had gone to the Aviva Stadium with family members to watch Ireland play Latvia.

It’s understood Senator Jimmy is in an induced coma as surgeons work to control a number of head injuries.

IT had been thought he may have been robbed as he lay unconscious on the ground after his jacket and keys went missing.

However, the items were later found in a pub on Dawson Street where he had been socialising on Friday night.

There has been widespread concern across the political divide, with representatives of all political parties expressing solidarity with the Harte family at this time.

Finn Harps, where Jimmy was once chairman, says its staff and players are hoping for a speedy recovery for the Donegal man.

Labour Party leader and Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore has been in constant touch with the family since the incident.
