Mr McGarrigle’s son John Jnr had been staging a vigil at the site of the Clutha Bar where his father was last seen alive on Friday night last, shortly before the police helicopter crashed on to the pub’s roof.

Glasgow Police confirmed 57-year-old Mr McGarrigle, a poet and writer, was one of the victims shortly after midnight.
