DDTV: CHRISTMAS SEWAGE HORROR FOR FAMILY

DDTV: THESE are the conditions families on one County Donegal housing estate are having to deal with this Christmas – and they say no-one will help them.

The estate is in Kilmacrennan and called Lennon View, but every time there’s a storm the view gets too close…and water gushes towards the houses.

In this video one of the residents Rafal Kimel films conditions there this weekend.

“Thanks to Donegal County Council with each storm we have lakes on our estate,” said Rafal.

“The estate should have be taken over by the council in 2007, but six years later this has not happened.

“When it’s freezing our lake turns to ice and is very very dangerous. The sewage pumps on the estate stopped working five months ago so when we are flooded it pours into the street.

“No-one wants to help us. We’re stuck and no-one will take any responsibility. The developer is long gone.

“It’s very dangerous as well. I called the ESB as the water covers the electricity box. They passed information about the ‘high risk’ of shock to Donegal County Council. They did not react. It is just sad. Maybe when someone is hurt by electricity they will wake up.”

Rafal says he has been waiting for two years for help, but no-one will.

“We will spend Christmas with the smell of raw sewage outside our home. It’s not fair and no-one cares.”
