Donegal is being battered by stormy conditions tonight.

Although Met Eireann did not include the county in its red alert warning, damage has already been caused.

A tree has blown down across the road between Raphoe and Tullyvinney while there are reports of other trees coming down in other parts of the county.

In Ardsbeg, Gortahork, more than 60 homes are without electricity after a power outage.

And 81 home lost power in Bundoran – and the main storm hasn’t even hit the county yet.

It follows an incident earlier at Donegal Airport in which lightning struck the airport damaging vital equipment.

Flights in and out of the Airport at Carrickfin were cancelled today and tomorrow morning.

People are being advised to take extreme care on the roads across the county and avoid journeys if not entirely necessary.

Winds are due to pick up again overnight, when the main storm arrives.

If you have any reports of damage please email them to info@donegaldaily.com
