TRAGIC INISHOWEN PENSIONER TO BE BURIED TODAY

The last person to be killed on Donegal’s roads in 2013 will be buried today.cross new

Tragic pensioner Maura Porter died just before midnight last Monday hours after she was struck by a car just 150 yards from her home in Churchtown, Carndonagh.

Ms Porter will be buried following 11am funeral mass at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Carndonagh.

A man in his 40s, the driver of the car which struck Ms Porter, was not hurt.

The Inishowen pensioner, who was 7o, was the 13th person to be killed on Donegal roads in 2013.

TD Charlie McConalogue paid tribute to Mrs Porter whom he knew well.

“She was one of life’s wonderful people,” said Deputy McConalogue.

“Her death is a huge tragedy for her family and the entire community.”
