Letterkenny Peace Commissioner Peter Cutliffe has again called for polling clerk positions to be advertised locally.

Mr Cutliffe said that with local & European elections scheduled for May next, action has to be taken on the issue.

“I believe that these public positions should be advertised so that our young and unemployed people get the opportunity to avail of these positions,” he said.

” I would recommend that a panel of suitable people be formed that would last for 2 years. This panel would serve not only the elections in May but also the next General election , scheduled for February 2016 & also a few scheduled referenda”, Mr Cutliffe suggested.

In conclusion, he again called on the County Registrar to advertise these positions as soon as possible.
