LARGE CROWD EXPECTED FOR FIRST OF LIFFORD AC 5K SPRING SERIES

A bumper crowd is expected in St Johnston on Sunday morning for the first race in the hugely popular Dalys XL Spring 5K Series.Lifford AC Spring Series 2014

The Series has been organised by Lifford Athletic Club for the past number of years, and this promises to be the most successful Series to date.

Up to 300 runners, walkers and joggers are expected to take to the roads in St Johnston and Carrigans on Sunday, with the fast 5k loop tracing its way along the picturesque River Foyle.

In recent weeks, large numbers have started the year afresh in various clubs, gyms and programmes around the county, with the Lifford club experiencing a surge in numbers joining its Fit4Life and Couch to 5K programmes.

Sunday promises to be a real family day out and what better way to start the New Year and a Sunday morning than engaging in healthy exercise, with no small measure of competition from those running 15 minutes through to the last jogger and walker on the day.

Two further races will take place in Raphoe and Lifford in February, points being picked up at each race, with prizes being awarded to the overall Series winners across a range of race categories. Spot prizes are on offer at each race, chip timing, and participants who take part in all 3 races will receive a quality t shirt. All this for only €5 per race.

Pre entries will be taken at www.liffordac.com up until Saturday evening at 10pm, with entries also being taken on the morning of the race.
