GARDA OFFICERBREAKING NEWS UPDATED: ANOTHER pensioner has been terrorised, beaten and robbed in the latest sickening incident in Co Donegal.

The latest victim, a 77 year old man, was threatened and tied up at his home in Glenties last night.

The Garda Press office has now confirmed they are hunting a gang of up to three men who escaped with a large sum of cash and a firearm.

The incident happened between 6pm and 7.30pm on the Station Road in the town.

The elderly man was left in an extremely distressed state. He suffered cuts and bruises but neighbours who have been comforting him say it was the terrified state he was left in which has sent shockwaves through the local community.

It’s the second time in a few weeks that the same pensioner has been attacked.

Gardai in the town are investigating the attack.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area on Thursday evening is asked to contact the local station.

“The whole community is in uproar,” said one neighbour.

“What sort of society are we heading into when this is happening to our senior citizens.”

The attack came less than 24 hours after 1,500 people met in Manorcunningham to discuss a series of attacks in east Donegal.
