St Patrick’s Week end events
Over the St Patrick’s weekend there is a host of competitions at Portsalon golf club. On Saturday 15th there is an open competition followed by a members competition on 16th On St Patricks Day 17tha ladies and gents open competition. Time sheet s in operation for all competitions at Portsalon Golf Club.
Otway Captain’s Drive in.
The Captain and Lady captain of Otway Golf Club invite Portsalon members to the official drive in which takes place on Sunday 9th March. There will be two shotgun starts at 9 o’clock and at 12.30. Please contact the clubhouse on.0749158319 to register your name in order for teams to be drawn.
Results
The winner of the open staged on Wednesday was James Duffy (18) 38 points. The CSS was 34 points. On Saturday the winner of the open competition was Enda Mc Elhinney (11) 39 points. Runner up Sean Strain (14) 38 points, gross Tim Browne (4) 33 points, 3rd Kevin Mc Gonagle (6) 36 points. The CSS was 34 points. Congratulations to the winner Enda Mc Elhinney who recorded a hole in one at the par 3 10th hole.. On Sunday the winner of the members competiton was Aodh Mc Cormack (17) 38 points, runner up Eamon m c Dermott (4) 37 points, gross D P Logue (4) 27 points 3rd James Lynch (18) 36 POINTS. The CSS was 35 points.
Special draw
By now members will have received their membership notice and the exciting Portsalon Golf Club’s fundraising draw. The tickets are priced at €20 and on offer are the following fantastic prizes. The winner will receive a four ball golfing trip to sunny Portugal (excluding flights) 2nd prize a year’s membership at Portsalon golf club and 3rd a weekend of golf at our twined Headford golf club.
Gaeltacht League
The Portsalon Gaeltacht League team will entertain our near neighbours Rosapenna Golf Club on Saturday 8th. The tee is reserved from 10.28 to 11.30 a.m. The remaining fixtures a home match with Nairn/Portnoo and away matches at Cruit Island and Cloughaneeley are being arranged.
Subscriptions
The council wish to remind all members that their fees for the 2014 golfing year are now due. An early payment would be appreciated.
Winter Rules
Winter rules are now in place for in order to protect the surrounds of our greens during the Winter months. Please refer to the notice prior to teeing off.
Locker Rooms
It has come to the attention that a number of golfers are leaving their clubs and trollies in the locker room. Members should note that the locker rooms do not provide a secure lock up facilities for clubs or trollies and these should be removed.
Placing
Members and visitors should note that 6 inch placing on fairways only has been introduced a bit earlier than usual in order to allow the green staff carry out repairs to some of the fairways.

Divot Bags
Members and visitors please note that divot bags are now available on entry to the first tee box and should you forget there is another chance to pick up a bag on the second tee box. . Please ensure that you pick up a bag and assist with the course maintenance
