GARDAÍ HUNT ARMED GANG AFTER ATTEMPTED ROBBERY

armed gardaGARDAI and their colleagues in the PSNI are hunting an armed gang behind the attempted robbery of a County Donegal petrol station.

Members of the armed Garda regional response unit have been placed on high alert as a result of the incident.

At least three men – armed with a gun and a sledge hammer – attempted to rob the Texaco Filling Station in Bridgend on Sunday morning.

However they fled in a white van when other motorists arrived at the scene.

It’s understood Gardaí have liaised closely with the PSNI in their bid to identify the gang.

It is the latest terrifying incident of crime in east Donegal in recent weeks and follows burglaries against many local elderly people – and the theft of guns from a house in Rooskey last week.

Gardaí have been working overtime to solve the crimes, especially the attacks on pensioners which left six of them terrified.

A number of people have been interviewed but no arrests have been made.
