Letterkenny man Frank Larkin will attend a 6 day event in Budapest from this Saturday entitled “Facing Facts”.

“It is a conference and training event on Hate Crime and how to effectively monitor it. It is an area I have done a lot of research on in the last couple of years and have worked closely with the Gardaí on it.

“I will be compiling a report from this event and feeding back to relevant disability organisations and also to the Gardaí,” revealed Frank.

There will be 20 participants from 14 different European countries who were chosen from 60 applicants from a range of different backgrounds of groups affected by hate crime.

“My hope is to bring information back which will change the way that Disability Hate Crime is viewed by the powers that be in this country,” said Frank, who is a Disability Awareness and Equality Trainer.
