The Irish heritage association in Glasgow hosted a magnificent festival in the merchant City on Sat 15th March .

There were a host of musicians, song, ceili & Irish dancing . Thousands of people thronged to the square to celebrate their Irish heritage .

It was also the day when two ‘Marys’ were selected to represent Glasgow & Co Monaghan at this years 47th annual Mary From Dungloe Festival .

The MFD festival representatives of Mrs Breeda Ojo , Mr Alan Green (both from Dungloe) & Mrs Angela Medford (previous Glasgow Mary ) were delighted with the interest in the festival this year and it was great to have

Miss Grace Sweeney the current Mary from Dungloe on Hand to crown Miss Rosie Donaghy for Rutherglen Glasgow & Miss Niamh McMahon from Dunraymond Near BallyBay , Co.Monaghan .

Both girls are no stranger to the festival . Rosie family are from Gweedore , her best Friend Carla Boylan represented Glasgow in 2008 and her cousin Aisling Friel represented Glasgow in 2003 and won the title that year . Rosie is thrilled to have the opportunity to make her childhood dream come true .

Niamh McMahon (21) is currently a student in Glasgow Caledonian university and loves going to the Mary From Dungloe Festival . She has many fond memories of her childhood holidays in Dungloe and is proud to be wearing the Monaghan sash and looking forward to her week at the festival .
