BUSINESSMAN John Watson is set to run on the Fianna Fail ticket for the council elections in the Letterkenny/Milford area.

His name is set to be ratified at a meeting of the party in Letterkenny this evening.

He will join Glenswilly GAA player James Pat McDaid on the election ticket; alongside sitting councillor Liam Blaney and Ciaran Brogan.

Mr Watson is well-known throughout the county through his successful Watson Hire business.

Other election hopefuls within the party are said to be disappointed with the decision but Watson is seen as “an ideal replacement” for Dessie Larkin who is giving up his seat on Donegal County Council.
