Simon Community are very grateful to Annagry man Sean for designating ‘Northern Soul’ as a charity album and for organising the various gigs to promote the album while giving us all an opportunity to experience for ourselves the unique sound.

Northern Soul is an album that merges the sounds of Soul with Irish traditional music to bring you a unique take on some old classics. It features a range of local musicians who contributed to songs on the album.

North West Simon Community are a not for profit organisation working to prevent homelessness in counties Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo.

We do this through our tenancy sustainment, housing support and life-skills projects. The monies raised from the album have been designated for our Settlement and tenancy sustainment work in Co. Donegal.

This service provides support to people to both prevent their tenancy from a premature end through information, advice, and advocacy and to enable people access a home of their own through practical supports such as form filling, sourcing accommodation and moving into the accommodation, connecting to utilities and so on.

We continue to work with the person for as long as they need our support for example through assisting them with budgeting and accessing training and leisure opportunities so they can make friends and hopefully prevent isolation.

North West Simon Community are not in receipt of any government funding for this service and are reliant on fundraising and your generosity to continue the service which prevented homelessness for 25 individuals and their families in Co. Donegal during 2013.

North West Simon Community is part of The Simon Communities in Ireland: a network of eight regionally based independent Simon Communities that share common values and ethos in tackling all forms of homelessness throughout Ireland.

The Simon Communities in Cork, Dublin, Dundalk, Galway, the Midlands, Midwest, Northwest and Southeast are uniquely placed to mobilise local support and respond effectively to homelessness issues in each region – local responses to local issues using local resources.

The Simon Communities are independently resourced and governed. It works collectively through a National Office to conduct valuable research, inform and influence national policy, best practice and raise public awareness of the common issues affecting people who are homeless in Ireland.
