GARDAÍ have quizzed six men over a spate of burglaries in County Donegal, Donegal Daily has learned.

They were lifted in a series of raids involving detectives investigating the horrifying attacks.

All of the suspects have been released without charge pending further investigations.

However we understand DNA samples were secured during the probe.

A number of other lines of enquiry are underway which may help Gardaí place the suspects at the scenes of all the crimes in late January and early February, crimes which sparked outrage and a community fightback against the criminals.

All those held by detectives are from Donegal and were known to Gardaí.

We understand the investigation is still very active with officers determined to piece together a case to bring before the courts.

We also understand forensic evidence, which is still being examined, is a crucial part of the inquiries.

All those who were robbed have had specialist security cameras fitted to their homes; whilst local people are continuing to check on them several times per day to reassure them.
