Most of us would be delighted to win €20 or €50 on a lottery scratchcard from our local shop.

Someone has scooped €50,000 on a scratchcard.

Someone has scooped €50,000 on a scratchcard.

But one Donegal winner is celebrating today after scooping a whopping €50,000!

The €5 ‘All Cash Platinum’ scratchcard was bought in McClafferty’s EuroSpar in Gortahork.

The winner collected their cash at the National Lottery headquarters in Dublin today.

The winner wishes to remain anonymous but staff at the supermarket are delighted.

Owner Pat McClafferty told Donegal Daily it’s the biggest win they have had and he is delighted for the winner.

“We had a tele bingo winner recently and some other smaller winners on the lotto but this is our biggest to date.

“It’s the biggest amount you can win on this kind of scratchcard and we’re delighted for the person.

“There’s plenty of rumours as to who won the cash but we don’t know for sure who it is. We just want to wish them all the best and hope the cash brings them some happiness,” said Pat.
