Proud Day….Rory takes Sam and Michael to meet Granny Susan Kavanagh after the 2012 All Ireland success

There was much sadness today following the death of Convoy woman Susan Kavanagh who was in her 100th year.

Susan, of 243 Townspark, was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

As well as a family of ten of her own, Susan had 32 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Among her proudest moments was when her grandson Rory Kavanagh and team-mate Michael Murphy brought the Sam Maguire Cup to her home in 2012.

Susan, who never looked her years, sat proudly for photos in her sitting room with the two loyal Donegal players.

She enjoyed yet another touching family moment following the recent arrival of her latest great-grandchild Zoe.

Her ten children include sons Charlie, Danny, Paidin, Jimmy and daughters Nuala, Margaret, Myra, Patricia, Josephine and Eileen (deceased).

Susan’s remains are currently reposing at her residence.

Her funeral will take place from her residence on Monday next at 10.30am for 11am mass in St Mary’s Church, Convoy with burial afterwards to the family plot in the old cemetery

The thoughts and prayers of the staff of Donegal Daily go to the extended Kavanagh family.
