A PROUD Donegal grandad is set to golf through the night – in honour of this bundle of joy….his beautiful grand-daughter Sarah Porter.

Liam Lynch and a group of golfing buddies embark on a 12 hour golfing marathon all in the name of charity in Buncrana golf club.

They will start golfing at 8pm Friday and will be golfing through the night with the support of flashing golf balls and generators to help light up the greens!!!

All things going well, they’ll putt their last few balls by 8am on Saturday.

Their selected charity is the “Friends of the Coombe” which operates as a support for parents who have babies born before their due date.

This charity has been of great support to Liam, a well-known taxi driver in Buncrana, and his family.

His daughter Mary Porter gave birth to her daughter Sarah Porter on the 15th of May 2013 at 27 weeks.

“As Sarah was born so early she had to spend the first few months of her life in the care of the great people at the Coombe hospital in Dublin,” said Liam’s son Michael.

“Without the help and support of the friends of the Coombe charity, Mary and her husband Mark would have really struggled to overcome this traumatic experience. Thankfully however Sarah battled through and is now looking forward to her first birthday next month.”

Any donations from the public would be greatly welcomed and can be arranged by contacting Liam on 0876746567 or Mark on 0860750377.

Everyone is invited to the golf course tomorrow night (Friday) to help cheer on these golfing heros as they embark on their journey.
